well, shit.
as i sat, biting my nails, stuffing christmas popcorn in my mouth, and rooting for "futch" dani campbell, from ft. lauderdale, flo-rida(i absolutely HAVE to do that now..im sorry, its a habit!!) i began to ponder. . .im not gay or anything..but Dani looks pretty hot in this photo!

I had a certain somebody hit me the other day and tell me they liked me but that I was a lil arrogant. As I read the text message I said to myself " Awwww! How cute!" I replied with "Arrogance skates on ignorance and I'm well aware of everything I do." Right then I knew it was time to give a definition of exactly what the fuck is really good.Swagger by definition sounds like an asshole gone array.
But we all don't live by the dictionary so fuck all that. Here are the guidelines:
Swagger is:
* letting the haters hate and watching your money stack
* not giving a fuck who is gonna judge you but having respect for those that mean the most to you and more importantly yourself
* staying true to yourself no matter how hard it may be
*knowing what you bring to the table and being able to walk away from the table if folks filled with bullshit
* being able to stand alone without a crew and still have the same respect as though you had never been associated with anyone
*respecting your elders no matter if they are wrong or right, but having the ability to decipher the wisdom from the bullshit and applying it for better living.
* plainly put: doing you! ALL DAY EVERYDAY!
*knowing you cant turn a hoe into a house wife but that aint nothing thats got to do with you!
* staying versed in all things and being able to be humble in cases where you dont know shit
* making the biggest mistakes, taking responsibilty and move forward to become bigger then what you were
* loving life as though it was your last day on earth
* making sure you recognize and assist those who have less then you because your life is bigger then your own sole exsistence
* respecting and loving yourself enough to make the right decisions no matter how easy the wrong decision might be
* being able to acknoweldge your wrong and make shit right
* understanding that you may never find a companion that can appreciate your person and not let it hinder you and your goals.
* allowing yourself to only be surrounded by those who promote growth and postivity. if you kick it with the negative your value lessens on a regular basis... just look at a number scale... thats mathematics son!
*being able to smile at your enemy and laugh at his/her attempts to break you down no matter how painful; wipe the blood from your eyes and walk past them.
*never chasing those who don't deserve to be in your life in the first place
* accepting that you are responsible for your own happiness and no man, woman, relationship will EVER be able to define you or your happiness.
If you can't tell, its all about a healthy balance about knowing yourself and others.So you want some?Getting all that isn't easy. Discpline is key and making mistakes is essential. For myself I had to go through family violence, false friendships, faking out myself, isolation and having my heart broken ten billion times, and thats all real talk. I aint saying you should go through that, but for me being able to keep my head above water (no matter how hard or virtually unrealistic it was) has made me realize all of this.
Everyday I learn. I am a teacher and a student. When you truly realize that, your on your way. Nelson Mandela has a speech where he discusses that we are all afraid of how great we can be... and when I read it I understood exactly what he meant. I knew that I needed to do myself a favor and attempt to introduce myself to that point of greatness he was talking about. I may never see that day but I know thats what I strive for everyday knowing that the point of greatness really has nothing to do with me.Now go get yourself some swagger. The world and yourself deserve it.
